Category: Dubrovnik

Did you know that Dubrovnik is home to one of the oldest pharmacies in the world?

The name Dubrovnik comes from the word Dubrava which is the Croatian word for ‘grove’.  The city was originally known as Ragusa and is often referred to as the “pearl of the Adriatic”. The medieval city is surrounded by the Walls of Dubrovnik which was constructed in the 14th century and gives the Old Town its distinctive look from above.  The walls are 1.9km long and around. 25 metres high.
