I love a good beach hop! Not one for staying on one beach all day, I like to visit a couple, especially when they’re located relatively close together. Go beach hopping in Alonnisos, Greece – it’s great and easy to do with a car.
If you’re planning on spending time on the beautiful island of Alonnisos, there are some lovely beaches dotted around the island. Follow me as I take you on my day out when I went beach hopping in Alonnisos, Greece.
- 10.30 – 12.30: Agios Dimitros (Pebble beach)
- 1pm – 3pm: Leftos Galias (Pebble beach)
- Lunch at Dolopes Restaurant. Fried cod with salad and an orangeade
- 3.15pm – 4pm: Cristi Milia (Sandy beach)
- 4.15pm – 5.30pm: Milia beach (Pebble beach)
10.30 - 12.30: Agios Dimitros (Pebble beach)
Driving from the main port of Alonissos, Agios Dimitros takes about a 25-30 minutes. It was the first stop on my list and I was looking forward to spending some time there. Agios Dimitros is a beautiful pebble beach and is one where it juts out into the sea. I arrived late morning so it wasn’t very busy at all.
I parked the car at the top of the road which leads down to the beach. Walking down didn’t take long at all and I entered the beach from the very end and walked along it which was beautiful. If you instead drive all the way down to the bottom, there’s parking available, however in high season, it could get busy as there’s not many spaces.
There’s a small cafe located opposite the beach so you can grab a snack and make use of the facilities to get changed. It was called Thetis Snack Bar.
1pm - 3pm: Leftos Gialos
Next stop was Leftos Gialos beach, a mostly pebbled beach. It’s about a 20-25-minute drive away from Agios Dimitros beach. There was ample parking but I visited late in the season. In the summer months you can expect it to be much busier so parking could become trickier.
On site there’s a lovely restaurant called Dolopes. I had the fried cod with salad and it was very nice so I’d recommend it if you fancy something to eat.
You’ll find that the beach itself is very organised with loungers and umbrellas and plenty of them.
3.15pm - 4pm: Chrisi Milia
After having lunch and spending some time at Leftos Gialos, I headed to the next beach. Organised with sun beds and parasols, which you have to pay for, as well as a bar, Chrisi Milia is a sandy beach.
There’s a small parking area if you’ve driven and a bar and restaurant right next to it.

4.15pm - 5.30pm - Milia Beach
Milia Beach is cute and not far at all from its sister beach, Chrisi Milia. Unlike Chrisi, Milia is a pebble beach but it’s organised with parasols and sun beds you can rent. I had my beach mat so opted to sit in the shade of a parasol instead which worked just as well.
It was quiet on Milia which was nice and the view and surrounding landscape really adds to the serene atmosphere. I really liked it and chilled there for the rest of the time before heading back.
If you’re not one to sit on one beach all day and want to explore a few others, it’s possible and there’s more. Some of the beaches are really close together in Alonnisos making it easy if you’re driving. Ready to go beach hopping in Alonnisos?!
