Hotel Voramar
The peach coloured, 3-storey property that’s about a 10 minute drive from La Savina port on Avinida Miramor, is Hotel Voramar. I want to tell you what to expect staying at Hotel Voramar, Formentera

Location
The hotel is at the centre of Es Puljols, one of the main resorts on the island of Formentera. The area itself is not far from La Savina port for ferries to Ibiza, and the nearby town of San Francesc is easily accessible by car or public buses. Hotel Voramar is located just a few minutes walk away from the nearest beach, Platja es Puljols. You’ll also find others nearby such as Platja de Ses Illetes which you can even reach via a walking path from Platja Es Puljols. There are key points of interest nearby like Cap de Barbaria, Far de la Mola and Se Salines.

In the room
My room was a good size and was located on the ground floor. It had a balcony that overlooked the pool and breakfast area. Each room has a private shower or bath with towels. There’s satellite TV, a mini bar and refrigerator, heater and air conditioning, a safe, and a desk and chair. There’s also extra thick blankets in the cupboard as it can get a little chilly in the evening what with being close to the beach and getting that sea breeze.

Features and amenities
You can relax or work out as Hotel Voramar has a swimming pool and very small gym. Staff also refer guests to the nearby Sa Pedrera where they can purchase a spa pass for a few hours to make use of all the facilities, have a massage or another treatment.

The hotel has a 24-hour reception and there’s laundry service available on request. If you want to get online, there are computers near reception as well as free WiFi around the building. Unfortunately, I couldn’t connect to the WiFi properly during parts of my stay.
The bar at Hotel Voramar is called Xiquets. You can grab breakfast there but check if it’s included for free in your stay. There’s a bar menu serving food throughout the day – everything from hamburgers and sandwiches to salads and baguettes.

Extras
I liked the fact that the hotel offered all guests free aperitivo in the evening. Aperitivo is a common tradition across Italy and some parts of Spain that usually takes place toward the end of the day. Aperitivo is having slight snack before dinner.
Aperitivo included mini burgers, pasta and shrimps, fish, Chicken skewers and wings, and prawn mini cakes across the days with a glass of Sangria. Ask for a late check out if you’re departing past the stated check out time. Its not always guaranteed, but if you ask in advance and the hotel is not full, it may be possible.
Final thoughts
Hotel Voramar is a lovely place to stay. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and it’s in the perfect place for getting around and seeing the island at ease. I’d definitely book a stay there again!
Tips
- Baguettes will be prepared in the traditional Spanish way – with olive oil and smashed tomato spread on the base. If you don’t like tomatoes remember to ask for it not to be added.
- Make sure you have enough data. The WiFi at the time I was there wasn’t the greatest.
