The Sporades
The Sporades is the group of islands in Greece which I will visit to mark my 5th anniversary of solo travel. I decided not to go back to Santorini — one of the Cyclades islands where my solo travel journey began — as I wanted to see more of Greece.
I will keep to the theme though and visit another island, well, actually three of them! My next solo travel journey to the Sporades
For this trip, I’ll visit popular Skiathos, Skopelos, the island where Mamma Mia was filmed, and also Alonissos, the quieter of the three inhabited Sporades islands.
The plan is to start my trip off in Volos, the closest city to the islands. From there, I’ll take a ferry to the islands staying from 3-4 days in each and ending in Thessaloniki — Greece’s second biggest city. A visit to the Sporades in just under three weeks.
But how different would this trip be now and will I even make it with all the travel restrictions and threats of more lockdowns?
